The Oconto County Historical Society proudly presents the April book of the month:

Remembering the Oconto Brewery by author, Peter a. Stark. This informative book describes the rich and successful history of the Oconto Brewery and is filled with beautiful and interesting photos of the people, beers, and brewing facility that made this local brewery a long-standing success.

The Oconto Brewery was an icon of the Oconto community for over 100 years. Beginning in 1858, each successive brewery owner made improvements to the machinery, buildings, products, and marketing. By the 1960s the operation had reached its peak of production, ranking it among the most successful of small city breweries in Wisconsin.

This book chronologically traces the history of ownership, marketing, and products of the Oconto Brewery. It was a business that met challenges that were physical, medicinal, economic, and regulatory. The Oconto Brewery survived, while other beer producers failed. Even after its closing in 1967, the Oconto Brewery remains a focus of collectors of brewery memorabilia and Wisconsin brewery history today.

Please enjoy this historical nostalgic book and have fun remembering!
